The Palm Beach Habilitation Center is excited to present the new design of our logo. It serves as a reflection of our mission which is “To assure individuals with disabilities in Palm Beach County have the best environment in which to learn, work, and live.” Each aspect of the logo is intended to tell a story of hope and achievement for the individuals we serve.
At the Center of our logo is a person. Each program participant is at the center of their program and is the driving force behind it. The program is designed around the supports and services that the person needs to achieve their personal goals. The individual in the logo has hands raised in victory. This demonstrates the success that occurs when a person has the opportunity to develop their own goals and coordinate the supports needed to achieve that goal. The individual in the logo is utilizing a wheelchair which is a universal symbol for individuals with disabilities. This is an expression of the individuals we serve. The Center has remained true to its original mission to serve individuals with disabilities. However, the wheelchair is not stagnant. It has a sense of motion and movement forward. The Center has the opportunity to assist individuals with disabilities to become more engaged in their community. They are taking charge of their life and the design of their activities. They are the driving force of their own lives.
Surrounding the individual is a modified heart. This represents the love and care provided to the individuals served to assist them in achieving their goals. The Palm Beach Habilitation Center has a heart to support individuals with disabilities. This is the goal and the desire at the core of our programs. The circle surrounding the individual is divided into three interlocking pieces. This represents the Circle of Supports around the individual consisting of the Center, the community, and significant others in the life of the individual served. The circle reflects movement and advancement, demonstrating the positive impact that occurs when a person’s Circle of Support is properly engaged. Rather than a closed circle it is open to represent that the Circle of Supports is there to help the person achieve their goals. The Circle of Support is there to help the individual continue to grow and develop. It is not there to make the individual conform to the static expectations of others. Finally, the color scheme is reflective of South Florida’s land (green), sea (aqua), and sky (blue). The Center is a community based organization making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities in Palm Beach County.
