GLOBAL WENT LOCAL when the Palm Beach Habilitation Center partnered with Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Masters of Science in Global Development Degree Program to strategize innovative practices at our Palm Springs campus.
The graduate students from the program analyzed the Center’s total programming and assets that resulted in proposals for innovative practices to add to an already healthy habilitation environment. The students interviewed Center board and staff, conducted site analyses, and reviewed existing Center resources during their Spring 2020 semester. The results of their work included a customized resource manual related to social media and communications, a corporate engagement proposal, new activities in community engagement, targeted grant resources, and property optimization.
“Our students are deeply moved by the work done at the Center and are motivated to see it enter into its next phase of excellence. What started as a research project turned into heartfelt advocacy by our students,” said Dr. Craig Hanson, director of the Global Development at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
The Hab Center is an inclusive community where hundreds of adults with disabilities in Palm Beach County can realize their full potential. Its goal is to provide the greatest opportunities for all to achieve their top level of independence.
