Palm Beach Habilitation Center has no greater concern than the health and safety of our clients and staff. COVID-19 concerns require us to take a variety of actions to reduce risks to the men and women whom we serve.
Starting April 3, the Day Program operating on our campus will be closed for clients. The Center will notify clients and their families when the Day Programs will reopen. Residents of our group homes will remain in their homes with essential staff support.
The Center is closely monitoring information provided by the State of Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities regarding rules and regulations as they relate to the services provided by the Center.
Our staff is calling clients daily to check on their needs during this time. For our supported living clients, many people with disabilities have underlying medical conditions and, therefore, cannot go grocery shopping or do regular day-to-day living tasks. Center staff are going out for them. Over 50% of our Supported Employment clients have been laid off or are unable to go to work because of underlying health conditions. This greatly impacts their ability to pay for food, rent and other daily needs.
How You Can Help Today
Many of our clients live independently in the community with oversight and support from Center staff to ensure they have sufficient food, money for rent and transportation including to medical appointments. While our clients are forced to stay home right now, those needs remain crucial for their health and safety. A large number of our clients live solely on government assistance, which often is insufficient to meet their basic needs. The Center has a special fund to help fill in those gaps, and we are dependent upon community contributions to maintain that fund. Please click on the “donate now” button on this page to support these crucial needs. Thank you!
