Manny and Helen Logothetis reign as King & Queen of Hearts at the 20th Annual Hab-a-Hearts Luncheon
Guests were welcomed by Co-Chairs Joanne Driscoll and Craig Mitchell. A speedy recovery wish was extended to Harry Reichenstein, whose wife Linda is also a Co-Chair. Steering Committee Members were thanked for their hard work and stood to be recognized. Manny and Helen Logothetis, Steering Committee Member and long-time supporters of the PB Hab Center, were recognized as the 2011 King & Queen of Hearts and presented with engraved heart vase. Before guests dined on filet mignon, Committee member and auctioneer Jim Accursio, raised $17,050 in a small live auction of eight items that included a set of autographed women’s Ping golf clubs and bag, a seafood dinner for four at Mar-a-Lago, four New York Yankees tickets, and a one-week stay at Silver Mountain Resort in Idaho. During dessert, guests enjoyed fashion show by Mildred Hoit of Palm Beach, which was emceed by Steven Gushee. Volunteer models included Steering members Prudie Anderson, Victoria Baker, Nancy Cashman, Joanne Driscoll, Henrietta Koretsky, Sandra Lawrence, Sheila Rinker, Marilyn Tuppen and Marianne Vellis. The lucky winner of the Cartier watch was Steering Committee Member, Jenifer Kelley. Other Committee members include: Amy Bernard, Donna Brown, Trish Callow, Barbara Fuschetti, Ann Growney, Ann Jaggie, Lee Kirwan, Beverlee Miller, Jean O’Connell, Carol Pratt, Linda Reichenstein, Chris Silva, MJ Stewart, Lou Ann Swan, Sherry Szczublewski, Trish Akers Tackett, Marie Tynan, Barbara Whitford, and Babbette Wolff. A new partnership this year, were a dozen volunteers from Palm Beach State College who helped distribute auction items and carry gifts out to the guests cars. These student volunteers enabled Steering Committee Members to be able to actually sit and enjoy their lunch. The luncheon will net over $115,000 for the Palm Beach Habilitation Center, which provides programs and services to more than 700 individuals with disabilities in Palm Beach County each year.
