2011 Fa-HAB-ulous Event

“Moonlight Masquerade” a huge success…

More than 140 guests attended “Moonlight Masquerade”, a costume optional event of the Fa-HAB-ulous Committee on Thursday, October 13th at Cafe Sapori -- contributing to a $50,000 net profit!

The Fa-HAB-ulous Friends, an auxiliary of Palm Beach Habilitation Center, transformed the restaurant with gold toppers, black napkins and black and silver moon shaped centerpieces with flicker tea lights.

This third-year event was chaired by Valerie Seifert with Beverlee Miller serving as Honorary Chair.  Committee Members included Amy Bernard, Commissioner Paulette Burdick, Brenda Burnette, Cheryl Gibbs, Suzanne Holmes, Sharon Kung, Christine Pitts, Barbara Socher, and Barbara Wymer.

As guests arrived, Committee members greeted them at the door and gave them an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a gold, diamond & ruby earrings, a Rado watch or a week in North Carolina.  Guests could also purchase tickets for Chakra, Reiki, or Psychic readings.  As guests sipped wine they were entertained by the music of the Stradivarius Chamber Ensemble and bids on more than 90 items in the silent auction.  During dinner, Jim Accursio, auctioned off a variety of Live Auction items including brunch at Mar-a-Lago, an in-home dinner for 8 by Trulucks, a SAKS Fifth Avenue Chanel Cosmetic Basket and Make Up Party  Basket, and a Ruby & 14kt Gold Pendant on a reversible 18kt white/yellow gold omega necklace etc.  At their table, each guest received a chocolate bar in the shape of a mask donated by Sheila Rinker.

Valerie and Beverlee thanked and recognized the Committee Members, and the major sponsors/underwriters of the event including Akerman Senterfit, Dave Batelaan, JFK Medical Center Foundation, The Rose Marie & Ted J. Miller Family Foundation, PNC Wealth Management, Toshiba Business Systems, Michael & Suzanne Holmes, Stuart J. & Allison Rogers Haft, and Graphics Plus, inc.

The proceeds of this event are designated for ASAP.   The Adult Skills Acquisition Program is a special program providing training in daily
living skills for individuals with significant physical disabilities, our most vulnerable clients.

Thank you for contributing to this vital program!
