2011 Centurions

Jeff Miller touches the

"hearts" of the Centurions

Otis Brown, Chair of the Centurions, welcomed the guests and thanked them for their support this year and all their past support.  He introduced his hard working committee members: Sandy Beach, Bill Benton, Harry Kennedy, John Farmer, Carl Palmisano, Bryan Meumann, Bud Tuppen, David Stenson, and David Hawkey.  Otis was proud to report that Centurion giving this year is over $84,000!  Tina Philips, President/CEO of Palm Beach Habilitation Center, was introduced and entertained the crowd with the story of how the Centurions started.

There was not a dry eye in the crowd, as Jeff Miller, Founder of HonorAir, finished his talk at the Annual Centurions Cocktail Reception on Tuesday, January 11th at Atlantis Golf Club.  The program started with a video interviewing Jeff and World War II veterans regarding their visit to the World War II Memorial in Washington DC.  Miller told stories about the trips that touched the hearts of the Centurions and brought many of them to tears.  Tom & Sue Fazio described their experience as guardians one of the trips and how it touched them.

The Centurions, which was founded in 1994, is a group of men who raise money for capital expenditures and repairs at the Palm Beach Habilitation Center each year.    To-date they have raised over $1.3 million dollars. A portion of the money raised is  earmarked for the Centurions Capital Expenditure and Repair Fund, which ensures that the Center has money to make necessary repairs and buy equipment as needed.
